Akasha
Akasha is the Sanskrit word for “aether”, said to embody the four elements of earth, air, fire and water. This film uses the expressive movements of aerial and dance to explore one woman’s connection to the elements around her.
This is the next iteration of my Lunamation technique. Although it was only animated by five people, the approach was very much the same. The animators this time were also the performers in the video- an aerial arts group called Hercinia Arts Collective.
The film has played at Toronto Nuit Blanche 2011, LOIKKA Dance Film Festival 2012, TAIS Showcase 2012, Halifax Independent Film Festival 2013, and FilmoCorto 2013 in Lima, Peru.
